And the countdown begins...

Three weeks from now I will be chilaxin someone in Virginia Beach with my dawg Brooks. It is gonna be a blast heading back to the old stomping grounds. And for those who don't know, I plan on moving back to Va Beach in the fall of '07, so be looking for updates on that.

Now I know that it has been a while, but I am going to keep this short. I haven't really ranted on anything other then work so I'm going to change this up a bit. The other day someone asked me to read a Nicholas Sparks book. Now I have heard of him, but I have never necessarily heard about what he has written. I so did a little Google search and wouldn't you know, he writes romance novels. Now I am for the literation of America. I don't want to pull up to Burger King and see that they have changed the buttons on the registers from abbreviations to pictures, but I am not down with reading a romance novel, let alone one written by a dude. So for you, "friend", and any other "men" out there who have read and enjoyed one of Mr. Sparks's novels, I ask that you show up to the nearest DMV and turn in your man card immediately. Even my mom thinks that any man caught reading these books should reach between their legs and make sure there is something hanging there. No men that I know accually sit down and read books. But if they were, I'd be willing to put my Jeep, ALL of my baseball cards (including the Cal Ripken ones), and my autographed picture of Ed Jovanovski on the table wagering that the book would not be one written by Mr. Sparks.

While we are on the subjects of books, I have one recommendation for everyone. The Teammates by David Halberstam is a very fascinating read. It is a true tale of 4 pro ball players, and how they each arrived at the major league level, how they fared together in the majors and what they are up to now. The book jumps around a lot telling stories about what the men would do in the off season and they had met their wives and so forth. You don't have to like baseball to appreciate this story about 4 men growing up, stopping their lucrative baseball careers while having to fight in a war, and growing old while together, you just need to understand how friendships work. If you have no idea on how they work, the final few chapters are the blueprints on what to do.

It's like a party in my mouth...

I have tasted heaven and it comes on a bun...I tried two new burgers this week and both were outstanding...the Black and Bleu Burger from Backyard Burger was outstanding...bacon, cheese, lettuce, all beef patty and just the right amount of bleu cheese all blend together for five minutes of bliss...the second (and this ranking is chronological) is the Cheesy Bacon Angus Steak Burger from Burger King...three types of cheeses melted on bacon and a steak burger patty is borderline orgasmic.

The birthday week was very anticlimatic from all of the hype it received...had quite a bit of fun with my sister on her birthday...on monday chili's closed at 11 so the late crowd relocated to Ale House for a few hours...dinner with the parents produced alot of new food...venison tastes alot like steak and raw tuna has a sweet taste to it...still waiting on one last gift from someone who didn't even tell me "happy birthday".

I did happen to spend some money on myself this past week though...new PS2 game, new pair of Oakley sunglasses (that I havent been able to wear b/c the only time I needed to go anywhere it's been raining or too late at night), and a new golf bag for my clubs...my fairly new clubs were looking out of place in the dingy hand-me-down bag I have been toting around the past few years...here's hoping that the new look on the course will bring confidence to my otherwise lousy golf game.

One last note just coming in off the news wire: "Jerome Bettis returns to hometown for Super Bowl"
